Facility Inspections
While this place's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a C for that category, which is one of our better scores. We would argue that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 6 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but none were category G through L deficiencies. This means CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an imminent danger to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility ended up receiving a rock-bottom grade in our short-term care category. It was given a lowly F in this category. In determining our short-term care scores, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to formulate a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. With a grade of this caliber for this area, we weren't stunned to learn that this place was below average in the two key staffing figures we focus on. In fact, it supplied significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most nursing homes. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents that eventually returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility ended up receiving a an abysmal score in our long-term care category. It received a lowly F in this area. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to discover that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
The final category we analyzed is nursing. It received a lowly F in this category, which is a poor grade. Nursing ratings are based largely on quality and quantity of nursing care. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were far below average. This place also had abysmal scores in several of the quality-based metrics to pair with its low nursing hours. For starters, we looked at the percent of patients sustaining pressure ulcers. This facility was at more than twice the national average in this statistic. This is quite concerning when you consider that so many pressure ulcers are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. This ended up sealing the facility's fate of receiving a very weak nursing grade.
