Nurse Quality

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall score, we gave this facility a grade of A for our nursing rating. There are quite a few factors included in this area. Most of the criteria relate to nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of turning a patient more often.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive category grades, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are relatively minor. This place was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This indicates that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies an imminent risk to patient safety or health. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home was awarded a strong short-term care score as well. We gave it one of our higher scores in that area with a score of B+. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.4 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to the last category, this nursing home was given a highly favorable long-term care grade. Although this is not quite as dominant as some of its other grades, this remains one of the more impressive grades we offer. Facilities that receive this kind of score in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are kept in good health. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 94.85715 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is more than most nursing homes. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
