Facility Inspections
While this facility received a decent overall score, its inspections score is notably better than its overall score. Due to a strong government inspection report this year, it received a strong score in that area with a B+. Inspection ratings are tied to many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this area typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This nursing home was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to be an immediate risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, we awarded this facility a B+ in our long-term care category. This is one of our more impressive grades. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 99.0991 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a dangerous health condition for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a middle of the road grade in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. Short-term care grades are often used to assess a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have better levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 4.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below the national average.
Nurse Quality
The last category we analyzed was nursing, is this nursing home's worst area. We gave this facility a grade of D in that category. This is one of the few weak links in a very solid profile. In calculating a nursing home's nursing score, we consider the quantity of hours nurses are seeing patients as well as the level of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is well below average. To go along with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this facility also didn't fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This place had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average nursing home.
