Nurse Quality

Grade: A

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it earned an impressive nursing score. In this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of A. There are a host of factors included in this grade. Many of these subcategories relate to nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to this nursing home's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home an A for inspections. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also was given a favorable long-term care grade. Indeed, we gave it an above average grade of B+ in this category. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 92.42424 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be a bit lower than we anticipated but still a decent percentage. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Moving on to the final category, this facility received an excellent short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of B+ in that area, completing one of our finer report cards. Our short-term care grades are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a wide scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
