Facility Inspections
We want to draw your attention to the fact that this facility really outperformed its overall score in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our best grades in that category with an A+. Inspection scores are based on many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this category tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This facility was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an immediate threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B in our long-term care category. This happens to be one of our higher scores. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. After looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 91.41414 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is slightly less than we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. Nursing grades are heavily correlated with quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this place actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually an indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's worst area was short-term care, which is the last area we looked at. It received a lowly F for this category. Even with several respectable scores in other areas, this score is still disappointing so we felt obligated to make sure you are aware. Short-term care scores are meaningful for people seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional skilled nursing services. This includes a wide spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 3.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
