Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we gave it an A- for our inspections rating. This grade is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid places with a list of severe deficiencies flagged. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies an immediate risk to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
This facility's second best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. Our nursing score is primarily based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This place performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at was short-term care. This nursing home's received a rock-bottom short-term care grade where it received a lowly F. Short-term care ratings are critical for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This means a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. With a score of this caliber for this area, we weren't surprised to find that this place was well below average in several staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it supplied significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most facilities. The final metric we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents that returned home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.5 percent of its patients returning home. This was quite a bit below the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we analyzed was long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F for this area, which is a poor score. Nursing homes that do not fare well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we looked at. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccines. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to just 78.66242 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
