Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of earning a great overall score, this facility fared even better in our inspections category which is associated with the nursing home's recent government inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A for this area, which is one of our best scores. Inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this area typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Grade: A

We also gave this nursing home a grade of A for our long-term care grade. When nursing homes receive this type of score in this category it is a good sign for resident care and suggests that the facility is well-staffed with nurses aids. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 99.2126 percent of its patients. This is a reliable method to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the senior population. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to our next category, this facility also received a grade of B+ for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average grade in this category. Our short-term care ratings are important for prospective residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing services. This means a wide range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 6.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The final category we looked at is nursing, which is a low point for this nursing home. We gave this facility a grade of D for the area of nursing, leaving this as the facility's weakest area. We'd nevertheless recommend that you consider all of a facility's category grades. Our nursing grade analyzes the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of skill of the nurses and the amount of time spent with residents. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is well below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
