Facility Inspections
While this facility earned a decent overall grade, its inspections score is notably better than its overall score. Due to a strong government inspection report this year, it earned one of our better scores in that category with a B+. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
Additionally, we also wanted to point out that this facility was awarded positive short-term care marks this year. We gave them one of our more impressive grades in that area, with a B. This turned out to be the nursing home's second best grade. In our short-term care rating, we strive to forge a sound measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at a nursing home's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality
The next highest grade we gave this nursing home in any area came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of B-. The nursing score considers many datapoints. The most heavily weighted factor is the amount of time nurses spent with residents. This facility provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics. While this place got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it actually excelled in some of these quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it did very well in this statistic. This can be a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a system of turning a resident at least once a day.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to our next area, this facility did not fare well. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in long-term care, this is this nursing home's poorest grade. For prospective residents in need of a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the factors we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. Thankfully, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 98.24561 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
