Nurse Quality
Although we gave this nursing home an abysmal overall score, we awarded it a C for our nursing rating. Our nursing rating weighs a handful of datapoints, but the primary consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed a few nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these datapoints. With less than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed well in this statistic.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second most favorable category is long-term care, but it nevertheless received a grade of just D in that category. This still happens to be a relatively poor grade. For prospective patients looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 94.05595 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Although it had 1.79 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted metric was not bad since it had some more complicated patients.

Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this nursing home only earned a grade of D for its short-term care grade, which is not one of our better scores. Our short-term care scores are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. With a score this poor in this area, we weren't surprised to learn that this place was below average in several staffing areas we assess. It offered significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This facility did not fare well here either. We found that just 48.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Facility Inspections
In our final area of inspections, this facility received an F in this area. Since this information is compiled by government inspectors, we heavily weight poor results in this category. You should pay special attention to any deficiencies on a facility's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection score. We suggest you pay close attention to the severity of the deficiencies. This particular nursing home was assessed 8 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they posed a risk to resident health or safety. Lastly, we would like to point out that this place was assessed significant government fines in recent years of over $100,000. This usually means that a facility's bad performance spanned more than one year.
