Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A. Inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this category generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. This nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its profile, this nursing home also earned a score of B+ for its long-term care rating. This is an above average grade in this area. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. After looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is much higher than the average nursing home. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's next best area was short-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home a B-. In our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to create a valuable gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze a nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. We were not able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final metric we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Moving on to our fourth category, this facility was awarded a respectable nursing score of B-. Our nursing grade considers many factors. The most heavily weighted variable is the number of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, we also assessed several nursing quality measures. While this nursing home got docked a bit for nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of these quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this area. This can be a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of turning patients at least once a day.
