While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it actually really excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A+ for that area, which is one of our highest scores. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that had too many severe deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an immediate threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

We also want to point out that this facility received a decent grade in our nursing category. We awarded it a grade of C in the area. Our nursing rating weighs a handful of components, but the paramount one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 3.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually a reliable indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.

The next highest area we awarded this facility in any category came in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a C. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to judge a facility's rehabilitation services To have good rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. We found that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. In fact, it offered fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.

The last area we assessed is long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this category, which is a very poor score. Long-term care grades in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 61.29032 percent of its patients. This is quite a bit below what we were hoping for. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
