Facility Inspections

Grade: A

While we were not high on this nursing home's overall score, it actually received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our best scores in that category with an A. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. It is generally best to avoid nursing homes that have a long list of severe deficiencies. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to be an immediate risk to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

We also gave this nursing home a respectable score in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a C. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. In this place's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the average facility. The last metric we assessed in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 5.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. There are many subcategories within this grade. Most of the subcategories reflect nurse staffing. With just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day, this place's nurse staffing levels were far below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This facility performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these datapoints to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next area we rated is long-term care, in which this nursing home received a poor score here as well. It received a lowly F for this area, which is obviously somewhat alarming. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
