Registered Staff Hours
While we gave this nursing home a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of C for our nursing rating. The nursing grade is based on several factors, however, the main one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This figure is far below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.
This facility received a grade of just D in the area of inspections. Sadly, this was its second best score. One of the more significant factors in assessing inspection reports is deficiencies. We suggest you pay close attention to the level of severity of the deficiencies. This particular nursing home had 8 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they caused a risk to patient safety or health. Lastly, we want to point out that this nursing home received large government fines in recent years exceeding $50,000. This usually suggests that inspectors became fed up after several years of bad government inspections.

Short-term Care Quality
As it turns out, this facility only received a D for its short-term care rating, which is not an impressive grade. In forming our short-term care scores, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to devise a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Considering its score in this category, we were not surprised to learn that this facility was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Honestly, this was what we expected to find. The final measure we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 5.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor metrics sunk this nursing home's short-term care score.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we rated is long-term care, turned out to be this facility's weakest area. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in this category. Facilities that do not fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. One of the factors we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to a relatively low 85.2459 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best feature in this category.
