Facility Inspections
The primary reason this facility received a decent overall grade is its excellent health inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our better grades in that category, with an A-. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall score, which was decent but not in the elite range. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This tells you the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Short-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's higher category scores was in the category of short-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a B+. Our short-term care ratings are considered to be most meaningful for residents needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually requires additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not only nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality
Turning to another strength for this facility, it also received an elite nursing grade. We gave this nursing home a grade of D. Our nursing rating includes quite a few factors, but the most important one is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This number is far below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we rated was long-term care, which proved to be this facility's weakest category. It received an abysmal F in this category, which is clearly very disappointing. For residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable figure. Surprisingly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
