Facility Inspections
This facility earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent government inspection reports in recent years. We awarded them an A+ in this category. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, we also wanted to point out that this nursing home was awarded strong long-term care marks this year. We awarded them one of our more impressive grades in that category, with a grade of B+. This proved to be the nursing home's second best score. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 97.44525 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. This place also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 1.09 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a much better hospitalization rate than the average nursing home.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of C in this category. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. Nursing grades are primarily associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 3.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, this nursing home was relatively weak in some of the datapoints we focus on, with subpar scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's worst category is short-term care, which is the final category we analyzed. We gave it an abysmal F in this area. Even with some solid scores in other categories, this grade is still alarming so we wanted to make sure you are aware. In determining our short-term care ratings, we size up the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This category is often a solid measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. It appears that this place was subpar in several staffing metrics we assessed. The facility supplied fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 30.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
