Long-term Care Quality
We gave this facility an A- for our long-term care grade. This score is much more impressive than the facility's overall grade. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 97.89104 percent of its residents. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. Finally, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. While it had 2.3 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted score was close to the middle of the pack since it had more complex patients.
Nurse Quality
This facility's second best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. Nursing scores are largely based on a facility's nurse staffing. Based on the CMS data, this nursing home offers 3.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. While this place excelled in terms of quantity of nursing hours, it fell short in some of the datapoints that focused on quality. This nursing home's nursing rating was hurt by its subpar performance in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers. We found that 13.6 percent of this facility's residents experienced pressure ulcers.
Facility Inspections
We also awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for our inspections rating. This is a very respectable nursing score. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we looked at was short-term care. We awarded this nursing home a C in that area. In computing our short-term care scores, we analyze a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is typically a meaningful measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its level of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The last datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 36.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
