Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. Facilities that excel in long-term care typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also would like to point out the fact that this facility was given a superb grade of A- in our short-term care area. Our short-term care ratings are presumably more meaningful for patients needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. Nursing ratings are tied to quality and quantity of nursing care. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

In the last area we looked at, we found that this nursing home received a solid government inspection report this year as well. It earned a decent score in our inspection category with a B. Our inspection scores are tied to many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
