Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This facility received a quality overall score as described above, but we especially want to emphasize its excellent health inspections in recent years. We gave it an A in this area. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This is really what you like to see in this important metric.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home performed well in the category of long-term care. As a result, we awarded it a score of A for that area, which happens to be one of our better grades. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 96.77966 percent of its residents, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home is also above average in the category of short-term care, where it received a score of B. It outpaced most facilities in this area. In our short-term care score, we strive to create a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. We were not able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The last category we graded is nursing. This facility was awarded a very good nursing grade in our assessment, with a grade of C. Although this was not quite as good as some of its other grades, this is nevertheless a decent score for this category. Our nursing score is based on a variety of data points. The most important variable is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a somewhat concerning figure which is well below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures. Although this place got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of these quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it did very well in this subcategory. This can be an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a system of turning patients at least once a day.
