Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. Our nursing grade assesses the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We look at both the levels of training of the nurses and the quantity of hours spent with residents. This facility averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day, which is well below average. Lastly, although this facility got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared very well in this subcategory.
Short-term Care Quality
We were also pleasantly surprised to discover that this nursing home received a solid short-term care grade in our assessment. We awarded it a grade of B- in that area. In determining these short-term care scores, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our purpose is to devise a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Facility Inspections
We also wanted to draw your attention to this nursing home's inspection grades where it received an F. This generally means we found some red flags on the inspection reports. When a place has this bad of an inspection grade, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. This facility was assessed 8 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they caused a risk to resident health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed was long-term care. It received an F for this category, which is a poor score. When facilities receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the nursing home is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the data points we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. We were a bit worried that this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to only 75.5102 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
