Facility Inspections
In addition to earning a strong overall score, this facility fared even better in our inspections category which is associated with the nursing home's recent government inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A- for that category, which is one of our best grades. Our inspection scores account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better scores in this area typically have few severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. You can't do much better than a deficiency-free inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, this facility also was given favorable long-term care grades in our assessment. Indeed, we gave them one of our better scores in that area, with a score of B+. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are kept in good health. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 99.64789 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly is often a dangerous condition for nursing home residents so we prefer when a nursing home does not take any chances. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
The next highest grade we gave this nursing home came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of B-. This wasn't quite as good as some of its other scores, but a grade in this range is not the end of the world. The nursing rating consists of several datapoints, many of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This facility averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, which is a very low figure. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often a good indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we scored is short-term care. We gave this facility a C in this area. In determining these short-term care ratings, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to create a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. It does not look like this nursing home submitted information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who returned home from this facility. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below average.
