Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this place also received first-rate government inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our best grades in this area, with a grade of A-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite minor. This nursing home was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an immediate risk to patient health or safety. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Building on its impressive profile, this facility also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it an B+ for that category. Our nursing grade is based on many subcategories, however, the main one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to the third category, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average score in this area. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to judge a facility's rehabilitation services To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final measure we considered in this area is the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next area we graded is long-term care. This nursing home received a B- for this area. In computing these long-term care scores, we look at the facility's personal care services. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this facility vaccinated a relatively low 70 percent of its residents. Nevertheless, this facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
