Facility Inspections
In addition to earning a great overall rating, this nursing home fared even better in the area of inspections which is associated with the facility's recent government inspection reports. In fact, we gave it an A- for this area, which is one of our highest grades. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to be an immediate risk to resident health or safety. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in the industry.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility was awarded an impressive short-term care grade as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that category with a grade of B. In forming our short-term care grades, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to formulate a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 4.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home is also strong in the category of long-term care, where it was given a score of B. It outpaced most facilities in this category. For residents seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 77.209305 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is somewhat below what we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, at least this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
The last category we rated was nursing. We awarded this nursing home one of our higher scores in this category, with a grade of B. This facility turned out to be strong in each category we looked at. In determining our nursing scores, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also factored a few quality-based metrics into our nursing grades. This facility was relatively weak in two of the major areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
