Facility Inspections
A+
Historical
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some can be relatively insignificant. While this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
A+
Historical
Another reason we graded this nursing home so favorably is that it received an A+ short-term care score. This is flat out as elite as it gets in this area. Our short-term care scores are believed to be most critical for residents needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not just nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Remarkably, this place provides approximately 50% more hours of services from physical therapists and registered nurses than most facilities we assessed. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that it performed as well as just about any facility in Illinois in this area with 73.4 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, at most facilities, fewer than half of their short-stay residents are able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality
A+
Historical
Turning our third category, this first-rate nursing home also was superb in the area of long-term care. In this category, we awarded it a grade of A+. Very few facilities fared better in this area. For residents seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. One of the criteria we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccinations. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this facility submitted vaccination data. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
A
Historical
Turning to our fourth area, this nursing home was given a strong nursing grade. In fact, we awarded it an A in that area, giving this facility straight A's. We looked at the licensure of nurses employed by the facility, in addition to the quantity of hours the nurses worked with patients, in determining our score in this area. This facility provides an incredible 6.8 hours of nursing care per resident daily. Out of that total, many of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to providing impressive levels of nursing care, this place also excelled in the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed as well as any nursing home in Illinois when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
