To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our short-term care grade. In the category of short-term care, we seek to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. This turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of A-. When determining a nursing home's nursing score, we look at the quantity of hours nurses spend with patients as well as the skill levels of the nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

This facility also received first-rate government inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our more favorable scores in that area, with an impressive grade of B+. Arguably the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This facility received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are rare in this industry.

Moving on to the final category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D for long-term care. This is the facility's worst category score. Naturally, this score pulled down the facility's overall grade a bit. When nursing homes receive this type of score in this category it is typically a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the nursing home is not as well-staffed. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. We were disappointed to learn that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 87.850464 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
