Although we gave this place a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B for our inspections rating. This was the result of the facility receiving a decent inspection report this year. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

This nursing home's next most respectable score was short-term care, but it still earned just a D in that category. This turns out to be a relatively poor grade. Our short-term care grade is often employed to assess a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have better levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. It appears that this place was subpar in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the data we considered. The final measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 47.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics was damning for this nursing home's short-term care grade.

Historical

Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. The nursing rating analyzes quite a few datapoints, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This place averaged a meager 2.5 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is well below average. Finally, we also looked at some quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This nursing home was above average in two of the datapoints we considered, with good scores for avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are generally good indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.

Historical

The final category we assessed is long-term care. This nursing home was given a rock bottom grade of F in this category. For prospective residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. We were optimistic to discover that this facility vaccinated 99.05956 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.77 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
