Facility Inspections
We also wanted to emphasize that this facility earned near flawless government inspections recently. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some are quite minor. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
An additional reason we rated this facility so favorably is that it was given an A+ short-term care grade. This is just about as strong as it gets in this area. Short-term care grades are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Remarkably, this facility provides roughly 50% more hours of services from physical therapists and registered nurses than most nursing homes we looked at. This is generally a great sign. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of nursing homes in the country with 64.4 percent of its patients returning home.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received an A+ nursing grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+ category grades. Nursing grades are based in large part on quantity of nursing care available. This facility boasts a really impressive 5.6 hours of nursing care per patient each day, of which a significant percentage was provided by registered nurses. This is one of the more highly trained levels of nurses. On top of providing impressive levels of care, this facility also excelled in the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed as well as any nursing home in the nation in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at was long-term care. This incredible facility also dominated in this area, where we awarded it an A+. This wrapped up a perfect report card of four A+'s. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of very favorable nursing hour statistics, this facility's vaccination record was top notch as well. In fact, this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
