Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a C for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. Our inspection scores weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. This facility was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were category G through L deficiencies. This means that it dodged the more ominous classes of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received some government fines in recent years.
Short-term Care Quality
We gave this nursing home a grade of just D for our short-term care grade and that actually ended up being its next most favorable score. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of residents who returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.7 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below average.

Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Our nursing rating includes a variety of datapoints. The most heavily weighted one is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This facility fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we scored was long-term care, proved to be this facility's weakest category. We awarded this facility a grade of D in this category. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After we finished assessing the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to find that this facility vaccinates 98.35729 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
