Facility Inspections
While we didn't give this place a good overall grade, we did give it a strong grade in the category of inspections, where it received a B+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are relatively insignificant. This nursing home was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered severe. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies an immediate threat to resident safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
In addition, we gave this facility a B in our short-term care category. This happens to be one of our more favorable grades. In forming these short-term care scores, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to formulate a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this facility provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. The nursing grade analyzes several components, however, the paramount one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This place provided only 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these datapoints to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to our next area, this facility did not fare well in this area either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in long-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. For residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. We were optimistic to learn that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
