Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Even though we graded this nursing home incredibly unfavorably overall, it earned a decent short-term care grade this year. We gave it a B in this area. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

We were also surprised to find that this facility received a decent nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. When computing our nursing grades, we assess both staffing levels and the training levels of the nurses. This place averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily, which is well below average. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically a reliable indicator that a place has quality controls in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: D

This nursing home did not receive favorable inspection reports in recent years. In fact, it only received a grade of D for its inspection grade. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. Generally, you should be especially cautious when considering a facility with severe deficiencies on a recent inspection report. This particular facility had 6 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they created a risk to patient health or safety. Finally, we need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility was assessed significant government fines totaling over $100,000. This usually indicates that a nursing home's bad performance spanned several years.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final area we looked at is long-term care, where this facility was given a poor score here also. Sadly, it received an abysmal F in this area, which is definitely a major concern. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. We were optimistic to discover that this nursing home vaccinated 98.039215 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
