Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home also earned top notch health inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in that category, with an A+. Inspection scores are tied to several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this category have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

This facility also was given a favorable long-term care score. Indeed, we gave it an above average grade of B+ in this category. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is far higher than most nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

This nursing home's third most favorable category turned out to be its short-term care grade, where it received a grade of B-. In computing our short-term care ratings, we scrutinize the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This score is more often than not a fair measure of a facility's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of patients that returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. This figure was below average.
