Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out the fact that this nursing home earned near flawless health inspections in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some can be quite minor. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Among its many elite grades, this facility was awarded an excellent long-term care score. In fact, we gave it a score of A- in this area. Facilities that receive this type of score in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to ensure patients are well cared for. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 93.611115 percent of its patients. This is somewhat less than we anticipated but still a respectable figure. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
Moving on our next category, we awarded this facility a score of A- for its short-term care grade. This is a very impressive score. In computing our short-term care grades, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our objective is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
The final area we looked at was nursing. This facility was given a better than average nursing rating this year, with a B. Although this isn't quite as good as several of its other scores, this remains one of our better scores in this area. Our nursing grade analyzes the facility's nurse staffing levels. We weigh both the levels of training of those nurses and the quantity of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these statistics as good indicators of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
