On top of receiving an elite overall rating, this nursing home also received an A+ inspection grade. This is based on its recent inspection reports. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can pay to a nursing home. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

To add to its impressive achievements in other areas, we gave this facility a grade of A for our short-term care rating. Short-term care ratings are crucial for residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. We analyzed the levels of nurses working for the nursing home, as well as the quantity of hours the nurses worked with patients, in calculating our score in this area. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of turning patients more often.

The final area we rated is long-term care, where this nursing home received a C. While this turned out to be its poorest category score, this is still not the end of the world. Long-term care grades are based on a facility's quantity of nursing services. This includes a vast spectrum of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine medical services. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccines. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its patients. This place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
