Facility Inspections
While this place's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B- for that category, which is one of our better scores. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some are quite insignificant. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Without having access to complete deficiency data for this facility, it was a challenge to really grade it in the area of inspections.
Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility received an F for its short-term care score. Short-term care grades are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. With a score this poor in this category, we were not surprised to learn this place was well below average in several staffing areas we focus on. It supplied far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility ended up receiving a rock-bottom grade in our long-term care category. It was given a lowly F in this category. Nursing homes that don't fare well in this category often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. After we finished assessing the amount of nursing care, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 74.812965 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best score in this category.
Nurse Quality
The next category we assessed was nursing. This facility was given a rock bottom grade of F in this area. The nursing grade assesses quite a few factors, most of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. To go along with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this place also did not fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This place had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average facility.
