Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

The primary reason this nursing home received a decent overall score is its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our higher grades in that area, with an A-. This is a notably better score than the facility's overall grade, which was decent but not in the elite range. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Additionally, we also wanted to note that this facility was given favorable long-term care marks in this assessment. We gave them one of our more favorable grades in that category, with a B. This turned out to be the facility's second strongest score. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for resident care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 99.393936 percent of its residents, which is far higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. The nursing grade features a host of subcategories. The most important one is the number of hours nurses spend with patients. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home actually excelled in some of the quality measures we looked at. It performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Our final area is short-term care, in which we gave this nursing home a grade of B- in this category. Our short-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This means a wide spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below the national average.
