Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its excellent government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively insignificant. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
The second best category we gave this facility in any area came in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a B-. In determining our short-term care grades, we scrutinize a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This grade is frequently a meaningful assessment of the facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. We found that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we focus on. The facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. In determining our nursing scores, we analyze both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of those nurses. This place averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This facility fared well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we scored was long-term care. This facility received an abysmal grade of F in this area. If you are seeking services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care ratings. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to discover that this nursing home vaccinated 95.41284 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
