Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
This nursing home received a strong overall grade as discussed above, but we especially wanted to point out its excellent nursing grade. We gave them a grade of A in this area. There are a variety of datapoints included in this grade. Most of these factors are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home Oregon in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of moving residents more frequently.
Facility Inspections
In addition, this facility also excelled in inspections, where it received an A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality
Additionally, this nursing home also was given favorable short-term care grades in our assessment. In fact, we awarded it one of our higher grades in that area, with a score of B+. With our short-term care rating, we try to create a sound gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess the nursing home's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this category is the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that 4.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we rated is long-term care, in which this facility was given a C. This turned out to be this facility's least impressive area. This is still not a poor grade. Our long-term care grade focuses on a facility's personal care rather than the skilled therapy or medical services that are critical to a rehabilitation facility. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We discovered that this facility administered the vaccine to a relatively low 78.98551 percent of its residents, which is a bit of a concern. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
