Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a strong facility overall, it also earned A+ health inspections recently. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Inspection grades account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this category typically have few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This facility also received an A+ short-term care grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive more than one A+ category grades. Our short-term care ratings are arguably more meaningful for people in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of skilled nursing services. This means not just nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of residents who returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. Nursing scores are based in large part on nurse staffing levels. This facility provided 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Switching gears to our final category, this nursing home was given an excellent long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it an A in that category, rounding out a straight A profile. When facilities receive this kind of grade in this category it is typically a good sign for patient care and suggests that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
