Long-term Care Quality
While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a grade of B for our long-term care rating. This grade is far more impressive than the facility's overall score. Without this category, its profile would have been in serious trouble. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 96.2406 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients healthy. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Facility Inspections
Surprisingly, this nursing home actually earned a good score in inspections as well. We gave it a B for that category, which is one of our better scores. Not many nursing homes that were this poor overall earned multiple category grades of this caliber. Our inspection grades are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes with severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report, which is still very impressive. Overall, this was a generally favorable inspection report.

Nurse Quality
We were surprised to find that this nursing home also excelled in nursing. We awarded it an impressive grade of D for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Nursing grades are mostly associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This particular place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This statistic is quite a bit below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we graded is short-term care, in which this facility received a rock bottom score in this area also. Sadly, it received an abysmal F in this area, which is obviously a major disappointment. In the category of short-term care, we seek to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. With a score in this range for this area, we weren't shocked to discover this place was below average in the two key staffing figures we looked at. The facility provided substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other facilities. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 3.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most facilities, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
