Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we gave it a grade of A- for our inspections score. This score is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. Inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid nursing homes with a bunch of severe deficiencies flagged. We weren't able to track down deficiency counts for this nursing home. Without having all of the deficiency data for this facility, it was difficult to fully assess it in the area of inspections.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's second most respectable score was long-term care, but even there it received a grade of just D in that category. This still happens to be a well below average score. For prospective patients in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccines. Thankfully, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. When computing our nursing grades, we analyze both nursing hours and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is well below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Switching gears to the final area, this nursing home really didn't fare very well in this area either. With a very poor grade of F in short-term care, this is really as as uninspiring as it gets. In calculating our short-term care grades, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This area is considered to be a useful measure of the facility's rehabilitation services. As you might expect, we found that this facility provides far less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
