While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it an A for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the facility's overall grade. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was given a favorable long-term care score. As a matter of fact, we gave them a grade of B in this area, which is one of our more favorable scores. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Does this page answer your questions about Pocola Health and Rehab?
Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. Nursing grades are primarily tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. Quantity of nursing care does not appear to be the source of this facility's poor nursing grade. This place provides 4.1 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is actually above average. In calculating our ratings, we apply more weight to hours performed by highly trained nurses such as registered or licensed nurses. While it fared well in terms of nursing hours, this facility earned poor scores in the quality-based metrics we looked at in calculating our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This place was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in both metrics.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to our final area, this facility didn't fare well in this category either. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in short-term care, this is about as terrible as it gets. In crafting these short-term care grades, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to devise a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Considering its score in this category, we weren't stunned to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the data we assessed. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 37.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
