This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also excelled in inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A- for that area, which is one of our best grades. This is one of the few nursing homes with an overall score in this range which received multiple category grades this high. Inspection scores are tied to many datapoints found on the a nursing home's government inspections. Places that excel in this category typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This facility was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to be an immediate threat to patient health or safety. Remember that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to our third area, this facility also received a score of B+ for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average score in this area. Short-term care grades are commonly used to measure a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation In order to provide highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must provide better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last measure we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next category we looked at was long-term care, where this nursing home was given a B. This nursing home proved to be very solid in each category we looked at. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 95.4023 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
