Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We believe that one of the most important factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of the deficiencies. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We gave this facility a grade of just D for our long-term care grade and that actually wound up as its second highest category. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in long-term care likely don't provide the type of consistent 24/7 care that some other facilities offer. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. As it turns out, this nursing home administered the vaccine to just 73.78641 percent of its patients, which is somewhat concerning. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

This facility's next best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. When determining a nursing home's nursing score, we weigh the amount of time nurses are seeing residents as well as the levels of training of the nurses. This facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This facility performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these statistics to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last area we analyzed is short-term care. This facility received a rock bottom grade of F in that category. In computing our short-term care grades, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This area is often a solid measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. With its grade in this area, we were not stunned to discover that this facility was well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. Honestly, this was about what we expected here. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents that eventually returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
