We would like to point out that this nursing home's inspection score exceeded its overall grade. This facility earned a B+ in this area, which is one of our better grades. Arguably the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this area typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Remember that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in the industry.

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In fact, nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home an B+. In determining our nursing grades, we look at both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of those nurses. This facility provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some quality-based measures in this category. This place fared well in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. For example, in terms of the percentage of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this facility performed better than the national average. This is generally an indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided with better nursing care.

The third area we analyzed was short-term care, where this facility was awarded a grade of C in this area. In our short-term care grade, we endeavor to craft a fair gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. We weren't able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that just 22.3 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Switching gears to the fourth category, this facility received a grade of C in long-term care, which is a decent rating. In determining these long-term care grades, we analyze the facility's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 92.07161 percent of its residents. This is slightly less than we anticipated but still a decent percentage. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.64 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes.
