Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Kansas in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of turning a resident at least once a day.

Turning to another strength for this facility, we gave them one of our higher scores in our long-term care category as well, with a grade of B. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. After we finished assessing the amount of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 99.38271 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a dangerous illness for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility does not leave this to chance. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

The next category we rated is short-term care. We gave this facility a C in that area. In the area of short-term care, we try to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists.
