Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of C for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place had 5 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but fortunately none were in any of the categories labeled J through L. This indicates the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to put resident safety or health in imminent harm or jeopardy. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of D. Nursing ratings are based largely on nurse staffing levels. This place averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is well below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these metrics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility's second least favorable score was long-term care, where it received a grade of just D in that category. This is a relatively poor grade. Nursing homes that do not fare well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we looked at. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We found that this facility provided the vaccine to only 89.76923 percent of its residents, which is quite a bit lower than we expected. To our surprise, this place was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the next category, this facility really did not perform well in this category either. Due to a poor grade of F in short-term care, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. Short-term care grades are generally used to measure a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To have high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to provide higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last measure we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 3.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics sunk this nursing home's short-term care score.
