Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although this facility's overall score was as bad as it gets, it didn't perform as poorly in nursing. In fact, we gave it a B- for this area. Our nursing grade is based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of training of those nurses as well as the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It scored well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the number of hours of care offered.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also didn't rate terribly in the category of short-term care. Indeed, we gave it a C in that category, which happens to be among its more respectable grades. In the area of short-term care, we seek to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who returned home from this nursing home. We found that 4.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.

Long-term Care Quality
The third area we looked at was long-term care. This nursing home's received a rock-bottom long-term care grade where it received a lowly F. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home vaccinated 94.03509 percent of its patients, which is a very respectable percentage. Surprisingly, this facility also keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.04 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
Facility Inspections
Moving on the last category of inspections, this facility fared very poorly. It received an F in our inspection rating. You should pay special attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection score. We would scrutinize the severity of the deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed multiple deficiencies in categories G through L, which rank among the more serious categories of deficiencies. These categories indicate that the deficiencies uncovered by CMS had the potential to create actual harm to patients. On top of having severe deficiencies, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
