Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its relatively modest overall score, we gave this nursing home an A+ for its inspection grade. This score is far better than the facility's overall grade. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This facility received 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to resident safety or health. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The second most favorable category we gave this facility in any category came in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of B-. With our long-term care assessment, we focus on the sheer volume of care offered by a nursing home, as well as a few quality statistics. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to find that this nursing home vaccinated 96.55173 percent of its patients against pneumonia. This facility also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next category we looked at is short-term care, where this nursing home received a grade of C in this area. Our short-term care grades are critical for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. It doesn't appear that this facility provided information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The final area we looked at is nursing. This nursing home received a C in this category. We looked at the skill-level of nurses employed by the nursing home, as well as the quantity of time the nurses worked with residents, in determining our grade in this area. This nursing home provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a somewhat concerning figure as it is well below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures. While this place got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it actually excelled in some of these quality measures. With less than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this statistic. This can be a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of turning residents more often.
