We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home really outperformed its overall score in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in this category with an A+. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Based on this, we had favorable view of this nursing home's inspections.

This nursing home also was awarded a positive long-term care score. In fact, we gave it a grade of B+ in this area, which is one of our more favorable scores. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are well cared for. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 97.02128 percent of its patients, which is better than most nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Moving on to another strength for this facility, it also received an elite nursing rating. In fact, we gave this nursing home a grade of D. Our nursing score includes several subcategories. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This facility performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these statistics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

The final area we assessed was short-term care. Sadly, it received an abysmal F in this area, which is a rock bottom score. This is clearly a significant disappointment. Our short-term care ratings are considered to be more important for residents in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates higher levels of skilled nursing. This includes not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Given its score in this area, we weren't stunned to find that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 3.2 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below average.
