Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home well overall, we would like to point out its decent government inspections in recent years. We gave it a somewhat respectable grade of B- in that category. We would argue that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility an B-. Nursing ratings are based in large part on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a low total compared to most other nursing homes. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often a good indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home was given its next most favorable category score in the category of short-term care. We awarded this nursing home a B- in this area, which is a respectable score. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. In this nursing home's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than a typical facility. The hope is always that this does not adversely affect the quality of care. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we assessed is long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of B- in this category. In our long-term care score, we look at the amount of services provided by a nursing home, as well as a series of qualitative measures. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 97.77778 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
