Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received a very impressive inspection grade. Inspections turned out to be its best category. In this area, we awarded this nursing home an A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Nursing ratings are primarily based on the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
We also want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home was awarded a first-rate grade of A in our short-term care category. In computing these short-term care ratings, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to create a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at is long-term care, where this facility received a B-. Even though this turned out to be its poorest category grade, this is still a middle of the pack score. Our long-term care grade is typically used to assess a nursing home's performance as a traditional nursing home, as opposed to focusing more on the skilled nursing services provided by a skilled nursing facility. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 94.7541 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. This nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
