Facility Inspections
The primary reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an excellent inspection score. Its inspection score was far superior to its overall grade. In the inspections category, we gave this facility an A+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Long-term Care Quality
We awarded this facility just a D for our long-term care rating and that actually wound up as its second best score. For prospective residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. One of the factors we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccines. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 99.55947 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality
Another strength of this nursing home is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with an impressive grade of D. Our nursing rating includes several factors, however, the main one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This figure is far below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This place fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to our next area, we gave this facility a D for our short-term care category. This is the facility's weakest category rating. Short-term care ratings are crucial for prospective residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Given its poor rating in this area, we were not stunned to learn this nursing home provides significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most nursing homes. The last measure we looked at in this area is the number of residents who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 3.5 percent of its patients returning home.
